The current trend of Le Mans style shifting calls for a handle type grip. However, getting past the spring-loaded gate to 5th & 6th gears is easier with a palm shift. This knob shape allows both methods. It is comfortable as a handle shifter and works with other hand positions. Also, it retains a classic element with the contemporary, just as the MINI is a combination of classic and current design.

This knob was sanded with 1,500 grit silicon carbide paper and buffed to a high polish. Numerous coats of hand-rubbed Polyurethane were applied to seal the wood and protect it. The hand-rubbed method allows the finish to penetrate into the grain without leaving a plastic-looking coating over the surface.

Care: Typically, no special care is needed. Cleaning can usually be accomplished by rubbing with a soft cloth. If more aggressive methods are required, a damp cloth, or furniture cleaner can be used.

The direction the grain pattern faces will vary from car to car, depending on the threads of the individual adaptor used. You will have two options by rotating the adaptor 180 degrees. If a specific orientation is desired, it might be possible to place a shim between the top of the adaptor and the knob. Contact me before the knob is shipped.
